November 29 - With the ever increasing popularity of poker, the UK has considered allowing gambling on poker games (small stakes) in pubs. This is set to take place from next autumn. It seems that the game has become more and more popular recently. It is also thought to become even more so after the latest James Bond film aptly named Casino Royale, where at one stage of the film revolves around a poker game. (That is the first and last mention of anything regarding the film for those of you who have patiently awaited this new release).
Anticipating these new rules, huge amounts of pubs around the country have begun to practice their poker faces. With regards to the game, the pugs are not allowed to get involved financially but drink sales should increase dramatically.
"Equal chance games" will be permitted to be played for cash in pubs and there will not be a need for permission. However there will soon be issued a paper detailing how to restrict stake levels as well as prizes.
